The Rehabilitation Center of West County (RCWC) is one of the most medically advanced, independent rehabilitation centers
in St Louis. This state-of-the-art facility is located on the campus of the Cedars at the JCA. Our medical staff consists
of an on-site physiatrist, board certified physicians, licensed and certified therapists, dietitians and specially trained
nursing staff. Our three rehabilitation gyms offer therapy seven days a week.
The RCWC houses specialists In:
Physical Therapy - Increase body strength, mobility, coordination and balance.
Occupational Therapy - Increase strength to improve fine motor skills and regain the ability to perform the activities of daily life, such as eating, bathing and dressing.
Speech Therapy - Enhance ability to communicate and swallow, and improve memory, problem-solving skills and thought organization.
Skilled Nursing - Licensed and certified in IV medication, pain management, wound care and orthopedics.
Additional Services:
Respiratory Therapy - Respiratory therapists are available 24/7 to train and provide treatment in tracheotomy care, airway management and oxygen therapy.
Recreational Therapy - Socialization through a variety of entertainment, special interest classes, civic groups, as well as other groups and individual activities is available.
Comprehensive Rehabilitation Team
Our rehabilitation team is led by Drupadi Kumar, M.D., a physiatrist specially trained in rehabilitative care. Dr. Kumar is locally
trained and Board Certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Her group functions as a total unit, complete with licensed and certified
therapists, skilled and caring nurses, dieticians and medical social workers. Available to Dr. Kumar are board certified
physicians in general medicine, dentistry, dermatology, ophthalmology, optometry, podiatry, psychiatry and psychology.
C.O.R.E. Certified
The Rehabilitation Center of West County is a C.O.R.E. (Center for Orthopedic Rehabilitation Excellence) certified facility.
C.O.R.E. is a coordinated multidisciplinary program for hip and knee replacement/fracture patients in a skilled nursing facility.
C.O.R.E. provides patients with a similar outcome as that of an acute rehabilitation unit in a hospital and is focused on returning
patients to their home and community at their highest functioning level.
